Cascina "La Badia" is a farm located in the town of Montegrosso d'Asti, in the heart of the Barbera d'Asti, surrounded by hills formed in the Pliocene. The soil is characterized by the presence of marly layers with a high presence of limestone and yellow sand layers.

Here, the farm has some hectares intended, in part, to hazelnuts but especially to the vineyard, whose grapes, cultivated with care and harvested exclusively by hand and only when the polyphenolic maturation reaches its maximum, give a wine that is fully identified with the territory of production and that follows the well-known vigor: all the phases of processing of the vineyard are done manually and with strictly natural methods.

Owned for more than a century by a historic family producing local wine, the winery (founded in 1888) is reborn thanks to the brothers Pierangelo and Alberto Ruggerone, passionate vigneron of the province of Pavia, that in 2013 decided to restructure its production while maintaining the spaces and the appropriate climatic and conservation characteristics of the place and at the same time supporting more modern structures: one of the most historic Barbera farms in the area of Montegrosso today takes the name of "Cascina La Badia - Fratelli Ruggerone".
